Eyelashes – How some beautify them!

March 28, 2012

Have you seen ladies with eyelash extensions? What about ladies with crazy eyelash extensions?

This is a fun post… as in, I looked through the internet to scout for unusual eyelash extensions and this is what I found…

Very long eyelashes

Feathers, Feathers

Flower / Petals

When you are worried they can’t see you in the dark

LED Eyelashes

If you like Diamonds

When you party in a club that uses UV light

A spider crawling out of your eye?

These must be quite uncomfortable as they are made of paper-clips

And these are softer – made of paper

Perhaps you just want them painted on you

Your car may feel like having some nice eyelashes too. 🙂

Which one of the above is your favorite? I like the ones on the cars. 🙂

But now on to a serious matter…. I have seen many ladies who have experienced problems using fake eyelashes. The problems include cornea injury from the eyelash (the cornea gets scratched), this then leads to infection. In some ladies, the eyelids are not able to close fully and this leads to dry eyes. Some are allergic to the glue that is used to attach these fake eyelashes.

Here are some articles regarding this topic from:

Department of Health in Taiwan – informs about allergic reactions

College of Optometry – mentions traction alopecia (your own natural lashes comes off with the false eyelash)

There is now an alternative to false eyelashes or eyelash extensions – the use of an eye drop that can help grow eyelashes. This eye drop is approved for use by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Health Sciences Authority (HSA) in Singapore. It is a prescription only medication and is available from various doctors, including the clinic where I work.

Hope you enjoyed looking at the photos I shared here. I certainly hope you do not run into problems using these products that make you beautiful. 🙂
